The Way I See It

is a handmade artist’s book by Leslie Wayne in a limited edition of five, with one artist’s proof and one H/C.

Each book measures  8 ¼ x 6 ½ inches and contains 56 pages, with 50 archival digital prints of images scanned from various sources, including exhibition announcements, a cocktail napkin, newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs and postcards, among others. The paper is Moab Entrada Bright 190 gsm. The typeface is Courier. The binding was sewn by Sarah Nicholls and the cover was designed and printed by the artist.

Inspired by the spirit of play expressed in an “appreciation” of the writer Frank Kermode by Verlyn Klynkenborg, the artist embarked on an exploration of visual synchronicities between multiple images attached to her studio inspiration wall, which in turn became the source material for this book.
